Dr. Wells Farrin Smith operated through his own private practice and was Division Surgeon for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. In 1914, Dr. Wells Smith volunteered as the team physician for Little Rock High School. He attended every major athletic event for 22 years until his death in 1936. Dr. Smith's partner, Theo Freedman, took over as team physician after Dr. Smith's death. Dr. Freedman was the team physician for seven years until Dr. Smith's son, John, took over. It is believed that Dr. Wells Smith was one of the first team physicians in Arkansas. |
