ABOUT SPORTS MEDICINE PLUS

Sports Medicine Plus is a division of the Adolescent Medicine Department at Arkansas Children's Hospital. SMP is made up of one family medicine and two pediatric physicians who specialize in sports medicine for athletes 12 to 21 years of age. Athletic trainers, physical therapists, emergency room physicians and orthopedic surgeons are also integrally involved with the program. All sports medicine physicians and their support personnel are available 24 hours a day to determine appropriate medical care for all sports related injuries and conditions.

Sports Medicine Plus provides the following:

* Comprehensive pre-season sport physicals
* On Field coverage by an Athletic Trainer or Physician in case of injuries or emergencies
* Immediate availability of clinic appointments for sports related injuries
* Sports rehabilitation program with four certified Physical Therapists / Athletic Trainers
* One-on-one education and specialized training for coaches and team trainers
* Educational programs for parents and athletes are available from the Sports Medicine staff
* Physicians and support personnel are available to visit school settings at the request of the faculty
